| About MSDA |

Manipur State Designated Agency (MSDA) had been declared as the State Designated Agency (SDA) to co-ordinate, regulate and enforce the Energy Conservation Act 2001 within the state of Manipur . Manipur State Designated Agency(MSDA) was set up under the aegis of Electricity Department, Government of Manipur on 27th July 2006 by the notification No.9\1\2004-Power as designated agency to implement Energy Conservation Act-2001. MSDA is at present, functioning from the office of the Chief Engineer(Power), with manpower, infrastructure, administrative and secretarial support drawn from the office of the Chief Engineer(Power), Electricity Department, Government of Manipur.
The role of MSDA is to create general awareness among masses benefits of Energy Conservation measures and also to institutionalize the energy efficiency project implementation in industry and domestic/residential sectors including Government buildings and commercial buildings with its broad objective. |

| The broad Objectives of the action plan include: |

To proactively fulfill all the mandate of Energy Conservation Act 2001 in co-ordination with BEE and State Government and other stakeholders.

To promote the cause of energy efficiency addressing all commercial energy sources.(Coal, Oil, Electricity).
|
| 3 |
Reduction of energy consumption in generation, transmission, distribution and end use through efficiency improvements and rational use.
|
| 4 |
To address the concerns of utilities such as demand shortage as well as energy shortage through focused Demand Side Management(DSM) initiatives.
|
| 5 |
To promote reduction of GHG emission in the State of Manipur.
|
| 6 |
To promote use of energy efficiency technologies, equipments, processes and devices.
|

To promote awareness in respect of EC Act 2001, energy efficiency, standards, best practices, etc.

To promote about Energy Conservation Building Code(ECBC) and Standards & Labeling Scheme(S&L).

To promote fuel consumption in Transport Sector by Efficiency Improvement.

To reduce energy consumption in Domestic Sector by way of educating the user.

| Preliminary Activities to be carried out by MSDA: |

Formation of Energy Conservation Action Team (ECAT) as talk managers for various MSDA activities.

Initiatives for capacity buildings on energy efficiency both internally and for consumer segments through training programmes and workshops.

Publicity of Energy Conservation Slogans in local news papers and other media.

Formation of a high State level steering committee for providing guidance, coordination and monitoring the effective implementation of EC Act 2001 |
